At King of Africa Safaris & Trekking, we are regularly asked whether you can go on safari with a child and from what age is it fun to go on ? We are happy to help you! There is no minimum age for entry into the parks when going on safari with your child. As a parent, you are the best judge of what is right for your child. Most lodges are equipped with a camping bed or baby cot. We works together with partners who focus on children. For example, you can book perfect lodges in the parks that organize activities for children, or in some cases you can also arrange a babysitting service. In practice we see that a lot is booked by families with children from 6 years old. The child rate is charged in the parks up to and including the age of 15. Below 4 years if free. Here are the tips: With your child on safari in Tanzania, we give you a number of tips below that can help you make the right choice. This is based on our own experiences:

• We advise people traveling with children to choose accommodations with a swimming pool. This way the children can enjoy themselves after a (long) safari day.
• The food in Tanzania is child friendly and the people are very helpful when an alternative dish is needed.
• If you are going to travel to Tanzania with small children, be well informed during a consultation with your physician (medical doctor) about any vaccinations and medicines that are required.
• Flying Doctors. We advise parents traveling with small children to take out extra insurance for flying doctors. If there is something wrong, a helicopter can always be on site quickly. We are members, so its been covered. You don’t have to worry!
• Take toys with you in the safari jeep, so the children can have a great time on the way.
• Bring tasty cookies or sweets from home so you can offer the kids something while driving when they’re hungry. Most children are fond of animals such as the impressive animals of the BIG 5, so a safari is a great pleasure for young and old!
